Prada
Prada was established in Milan in 1913 by Mario Prada. Originally a leather goods shop, the brand diversified when granddaughter Miuccia joined the family business in the mid-70s. The signature nylon backpacks and totes were introduced in the 80s, transforming a functional waterproof material into something fashionable, and demonstrating Miuccia’s innovative and unconventional approach. The menswear line was launched in 1993, redefining classic Italian style and playing on a multitude of contrasting references and elements. Made in Italy, key categories include printed shirting, sleek tailoring and, of course, the use of nylon throughout.
