Founded in 1906 in Boston by British immigrant William J. Riley, New Balance began as the New Balance Arch Support Company, focused on creating superior arch supports and orthopedic footwear. In 1960, they introduced the Trackster, a revolutionary running shoe with a ripple sole that quickly became popular among athletes. The release of the New Balance 990 series in 1982 set a new benchmark for running shoes, combining luxury, performance, and comfort. Under the leadership of Jim Davis, who acquired the company in 1972, New Balance grew into a favorite brand for both athletes and sneaker enthusiasts. Known for their Made in USA and Made in UK collections, New Balance continues to update iconic styles like the 990 and 992, while collaborations with designers and brands like Auralee, JJJJound, and Stone Island keep the brand at the cutting edge of sneaker culture. In recent years, Teddy Santis, founder of Aimé Leon Dore, has collaborated with New Balance to design collections that seamlessly blend high-performance footwear with street style.
