Truls Mårtensson
Truls Mårtensson (b. 1993, Sweden) is a Stockholm-based artist who works primarily with ceramics. He began experimenting with the medium in 2017 while studying at UCLA and later developed his practice at Konstfack, Sweden from where he holds a BFA in Ceramics and Glass. Mårtensson's sculptures, crafted in the historic Gustavsberg studio once home to the famous Gustavsberg porcelain factory, explore themes of self-improvement and societal expectations. Using traditional coil-building techniques, his work combines text and imagery to create narratives that reflect the pressures of modern life. Drawing on historical and pop-cultural references, Mårtensson challenges contemporary consumer culture through his distinct visual language.
