Founded in 2009 in France and now based in California, HOKA began with a single idea: to reinvent the running shoe. Created by lifelong runners Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud, the design featured an oversized midsole that delivered maximal cushioning and stability in a surprisingly lightweight build. Originally embraced by ultra-distance athletes for trail running and long-distance events, HOKA’s chunky sole sneakers have since found a wider audience—from road runners and hikers to streetwear fans and everyday commuters.
