New York–based designer Emily Bode was the first female designer to show at NYFW: Men’s. Her eponymous label launched in 2016 with a collection of one-off garments crafted from antique textiles. Blending modern workwear silhouettes with heritage techniques such as quilting, mending and appliqué, each piece tells a story. By repurposing vintage fabrics and patterns, Bode transforms past narratives into garments for the present. Bode has partnered with various brands, including a notable collaboration with Nike on the Astro Grabber training shoe — a classic from the 1970s — reinterpreted through her distinctive lens. These collaborations merge archival sportswear design with handcrafted detailing, highlighting the brand’s ability to bridge history, craftsmanship and contemporary fashion.
